Items of value can be marked for police
identification. Contact any NHW co-ordinator or the Camp Hill Police for
further information.
In Queensland the identification used is the person’s initials followed
by their date of birth and the letter Q for Queensland. For example John
Albert Smith born 12 March 1945 would be JS120345Q. This unique
identification number is engraved on all property or marked with a UV pen
for delicate items and advised to the local police who will enter it into
their database. Any stolen property can then be traced back to it’s owner.
Also property that is marked is harder and more risk for criminals to
dispose of, and therefore less likely to be stolen.
Contact your local neighbourhood watch or Police Station about the free
loan of engravers and stickers for placing on marked
property.
