Your Suburb Carina is located in the city of Brisbane in the
south-east corner of Queensland, Australia, about seven kilometres
east of the Brisbane Central Business District.
Carina suburb is an older, mainly residential suburb, first
closely settled in the 1940’s. It covers an area of 4.5 square
kilometres.
It is bordered by the suburbs of Carina Heights, Carindale,
Tingalpa, Cannon Hill, Seven Hills and Camp Hill. There are many
facilities including three schools
, two major shopping centres, major sporting facilities and
extensive Parkland and Bushland
either in or adjacent to the suburb.
Carina suburb is conveniently located with access to the major
arterial roads of Old Cleveland and Wynnum roads leading to the
city, and the Gateway Arterial giving easy access to the Sunshine
and Gold Coasts. Moreton Bay is within easy reach only seven
kilometres away.
For those who enjoy shopping
, there are major shopping centres at Carindale and Cannon Hill,
within easy reach. For those who like a more local touch there is
the main Carina shopping precinct (known as “Carina Gateway”) as
well as small groups of shops ,
corner of Stanley and Lunga Streets, corner of Kenrose and Ramsden
Streets, corner of Meadowlands Road and Bethel Street, and
Chris’ Super IGA Store on Old Cleveland Road.
For those who enjoy the open
spaces Carina is adjacent to the Meadowlands and Minnippi
Parklands as well as adjacent to natural bushland at the Seven Hills
Bushland Reserve.
For those with growing families, Carina suburb is well catered
for with both the Carina and Mayfield State Schools and the St Martins (primary)
and San Sisto (girls secondary) Catholic Schools .
For those who enjoy sports
there is the Clem Jones Centre
which includes swimming pools, gymnasium, indoor basketball,
baseball, athletics, football, lawn bowls, and cricket facilities.
Also there is the Carindale
PCYC (yes, it is in Carina) and another Bowls Club, the Belmont
Services Club.
